Turmeric has been long used in Indian and Chinese medicine for its demonstrated anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-cancer properties. It is excellent for preventing diabetes, high cholesterol, Alzheimer’s; it mitigates the symptoms of arthritis.
Turmeric both detoxifies and repairs. It gets rid of imbalances in the skin.
While it can be very beneficial to the liver, helping it to detoxify the blood, taking too much at once in capsule form can distress the liver. Even worse is taking the active ingredient, curcumin, on its own, which magnifies turmeric’s heating side effects.
Cook turmeric with ghee to offset the drying quality of the turmeric. The fat soluble molecules will deliver the turmeric to the cells. Use organic turmeric that is already ground into powder. Raw turmeric root is too heating.
Do use turmeric with some degree of caution and a lot of coriander as coriander will catch the toxins from the liver released by the turmeric and escort them all the way out of the body.
